Rather than attempting to author a doctrinal statement, we believe essential Christian doctrine should be received from outside the local church, especially from previous generations. Sojourn Oak Forest acknowledges certain creeds and confessions to be faithful summaries of the Bible's teaching. Of course, extra-biblical documents are never immune to flaw, but these documents provide an opportunity to learn and grow the broader Church. 

 

In particular, Sojourn Oak Forest receives the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Reforming Catholic Confession, and the Sojourn Houston Confession of Faith.
